LIGHT2015 - Careers in Photonics
This video - developed by Politecnico di Milano within the LIGHT2015 Project - promotes the importance of photonics in careers, with short explanations by scientists, entrepreneurs and professionals working in photonics. The aim of the video is to encourage young students, especially women, to pursue careers in photonics, making the career choice attractive to students seeking challenges and the possibility for future development and to provide inspiration to look at photonics as a career to follow. The video will be subtitled to all EU official languages.
The four-minute video shows experiences of professionals working in fields related to photonics in Europe. Speakers are from all over Europe, speaking in their local languages: English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Russian, Lithuanian and Dutch. We believe this video will create proximity between the viewer and the photonics’ professionals, humanizing a discipline that is often viewed by society as a cold technology.
The video is available with subtitles in all EU official languages:
Bulgarian, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Estonian, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Irish, Italian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Maltese, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish and Swedish.
This video has already been showcased during the recent LASER World of Photonics Congress that was held in Munich, Germany, on 21-25 June, one of the biggest conferences in the field of photonics around the world.
The video will be used to open the LIGHTtalks: Career in Photonics events that are going to be replicated around Europe within the LIGHT2015 Project. You can find more information here.
The video was developed by Politecnico di Milano in collaboration with the International Year of Light and Light-based Technologies 2015, Photonics21, the European Centres for Outreach in Photonics (ECOP), the European Optical Society (EOS) and the European Physical Society (EPS).
